Located in the city centre, Tiergarten is even larger than London´s Hyde Park, with 220 hectares of land filled with ecological value. The name itself means “Animal Garden”.
The park has important historical value. Originally the park was preserved for hunting before it was open for public use. Prior to German reunification it was part of West Berlin.
Throughout the centuries the park has been burnt down, recreated and redesigned again, each time leaving a mark of history in it.
Today, thousands of Berliners and tourists enjoy the park to relax, enjoying the beautiful breathtaking landscapes. The park also serves as a setting for national government functions, a heritage site and much more.
